Default FS: 1973 Dark Blue/Black Corvette Convertible 350/4 Speed

FS: 1973 Dark Blue/Black Corvette Convertible – Restored, numbers matching 350 / 4-Speed
$26,000 Firm – Cincinnati, OH

Background
I have been restoring/building this vette for the past 3 years. It has been a labor of love for myself and my family. Fortunately or unfortunately my 5 year old twin girls have really taken a liking to the car (and cars in general) and I am in need of something with 4 seats. I am selling this to buy something that they can cruise in with me. I would really like them to enjoy the hobby with me.

I bought the car 3.5 years ago from the original owners widow. She was “pretty sure” he bought it new but said he sometimes bought cars that were a year old. I have almost no history on the car except he loved it and it was hard for her to let it go. I promised to restore it and enjoy it (which I have)! I have 700+ pictures of the restoration, it’s not a NCRS type of restoration but I feel like it was tastefully upgraded for drivability and enjoyment in the spirit of the car. I have a huge stack of receipts, and I have boxes of original parts that haven’t been restored but I didn’t want to throw away. For example, ignition shielding, original seats, radio, air conditioning parts, air cleaner, original gas tank (Has some of the build sheet on it), nuts/bolts, etc. All of that will go with the car! The car runs and drives great. It has just had a full 4 wheel alignment and a tune up at the local shop. Both guys that drove it said the car was awesome and they would drive it anywhere and everywhere!

Interior
I restored what I could and replaced what was too worn out…
All the gauges work minus the clock

Heat and sound barrier applied before carpet installation
Dash is original with a minor dip on the driver side speaker grill (Hard to see but worth noting)
New windshield (pilkington), original side glass with all new rollers, etc for the manual windows
Fiero seats adapted to Corvette tracks with Mr. Mike’s Fiero seat kit including C3 corvette logo’s embroidered in them
New shoulder belts
Classic Autosound radio with headphone connection to AUX device
14” Steering wheel (original will go with the car)

Body
Body was removed from frame and restored by a corvette restoration specialist. He spent a couple hundred hours getting the body right and then painting and polishing everything.
Birdcage was OK when removed. It did require adding reinforcements in the #3 location, they used ZIP brackets and welded them in. To help ensure a solid foundation I had them also install the ZIP rocker channels as well. 90% of the birdcage was good, we lifted the body off the frame using the rockers, I just felt better with the increased reinforcement in that area. The windshield header and corners were replaced due to minor rust. Finally, new seatbelt reinforcements were added to the bottom as well. I feel like rust in these area’s is a cancer that would continue to get worse, so we proactively replaced those area’s of the birdcage.
The paint and body was done using high quality PPG products.
• 927 – Dark Blue Metallic (Originally Elkhart Green)
The doors, hood, decklid all operate well, the body lines are nice, and the gaps are all good
Bumpers are re-chromed originals
All original stainless, straightened and polished
Headlight system was completely rebuilt and the go up and down as expected
Heater/AC controls have been rebuilt
Rebuilt wiper motor

TO DO:
The convertible top needs to be restored and recovered
Weather strip needs to be installed (I have door, hood, and decklid weather strip that will go with the car)
Spare tire tub was missing when I bought the car (Most of the rest of the pieces are there, lid, hardware, lock, etc)
Need to chase down a ground issue in the dash. I believe all of these to be related
• Interior lights don’t work (all new bulbs and new headlight switch)
• Wiper switch doesn’t work (rebuilt motor works)
• Blower motor doesn’t work (new switch so may be the ground or fuse able link)
Rear compartment needs to be screwed in and latches to be installed
