Default WTB 80-82 or 73 in Texas

I'm looking for a 1980 - 1982 to replace my current 82 Or a 1973.

Will also consider 74-79's in Houston, TX that are in very good condition but those are not my target.

Ideally I'm looking for a car with little-to-no rust, minimal fluid leaks, little-to-no aftermarket changes to the body (unless it's a 74-79 with 80's style bumper), AC, regular driver, good paint, fair interior, no mold on the undercarriage, minimal dings to the undercarriage, solid frame.

Bonus (I'd pay more) - great paint job, great interior, great weatherstripping/no water leaks, working gauges, working headlights, low mileage, aftermarket exhaust, recent tune-up, lots of life on the tires, new bushings/springs...

Looking to spend $7,500 - $13,750 (74-82). Under $18,000 on the 73.

On a separate note, in addition to the C3, I'm interested in a 2007+ C6, automatic (unless grand sport), under 35,000 miles in great condition.

Does anyone know a member or service that can conduct a car inspection around Houston, TX for a reasonable fee? Rust, frame, matching numbers - I can handle that, but searching for leaks and mechanical problems - not so much.

Any help would be appreciated.

Dallas too actually, lots of Vettes pop up there.

Still looking. 68-72's work too, missed out on one around $16,000 and didn't realize they can be that affordable in good condition.

I got the pictures, thank you! I'm looking for something a bit more original than this one but I'll include one of your pics in case someone else might be interested.

How would you rate the interior and paint? Any idea when it was repainted and what the cost/quality of the job was? Any bubbling? It's another car I would be all over if it was local. I think the ballpark asking price is about right but with shipping & 3rd party inspection it adds up.

The interior is good, small split in a seam on the drivers seat, some variance in color (fade) on plastic panels. Paint is also good, I would call it a 2to3 footer, if you really look there are a few chips and one small thin area but no "bubbling". I have no idea when or if the whole car was repainted. Overall appearance is a presentable driver quality, not a beater and not a NCRS car. You would not be embarrassed at a cruise night.

I know this is a month old but curious if you found what you're looking for? I have nice '79 that I'm thinking of selling to get a black '80-82 also. Mostly original, red with black interior, 1 repaint (not perfect but really nice), true dual exhaust with ceramic headers, newer leather seats, new plugs, wires, flame-thrower hei, PO upgraded cam and intake to Holley package, and added sway bars.....very clean underneath and runs great.

I'm in virginia but even with shipping, well within you're budget. Just a thought. PM me if interested.

Any idea how much that paint job was? Any bubbling or spider web crack distress going on? Any fluid leaks? Life left on tires? AC working? Rust? Weather stripping condition? If you some pics to share I'd love to see them.

Here are a couple of pics I have on my phone at work. Will be glad to take some more tomorrow and send to you.

I bought it about a month ago (impulse buy) and am really happy with it, but have a few other cars I'm looking at and wife says I can only keep one, so thought I would start advertising this weekend. The longer I keep, the more I'll spend....

The previous owner had it painted about 5 years ago with PPG bc/cc in the original color. Several weeks ago, I machined buffed, polished and waxed and really brought out the color. As I mentioned it's not perfect since the car has been driven in the 5 years since, but I think it looks really good. There are no cracks, blistering or anything like that, just a few scratches and paint imperfections.

Since I've had it, I've removed the smog equipment and cat exhaust (which you can easily put back on if you want to slow it down) and replaced with a true-dual exhaust, 2 1/2", with ceramic-coated headers and Magnaflow mufflers from Corvette Central. Definite improvement in power and it really sounds better too.

Also replaced the tail lights and badges, installed the Flame-thrower system in the HEI, changed plugs, wires, oil/filter. Also wanted to improve the stance a little so replaced rear spring bolts and tomorrow will install new front springs that I got this week from ZIP. I experimented with cutting the original front springs last weekend and cut a little too much...

In addition to painting, previous owner installed fiberglass rear spring, f/r sway bars, new leather seat covers, stereo (with cd changer), trans shift kit, and Holley cam/intake. Unfortunately I don't have the specs for that.

As for tires, the date codes say they are 10 years old. They don't have any cracks or rot and tread is still really good, but it's the next thing I was going to replace. Too old in my opinion to risk something happening.

Also, frame looks great. No rust at all and fairly clean for an unrestored car. A few very minor drips from the trans and steering but nothing bad at all. doesn't even mess up the floor. Odo shows just over 75k miles.

A few things it needs:
-Tires
-A/C not working. Pump turns fine. PO thought it was in the console switch but haven't looked at it yet. Heat works great.
-Parking brake cable is broken. Looks like it was touching the old exhaust and the pass. side cable is broken.
-Carpet could stand to be replaced. Faded on seat backs and rear hatch area.

Thats all I can think of for now. Will get some pics tomorrow if still interested.

You may want to look at Craigslist in El Paso Tx. There are two 82 vettes with new paint jobs (blk) that look good. The one that seems to fit your requirements is a 1982 CE that was repainted blk and it appears to have everything working. The second one as a blk/cherry paint job with a 383 stroker engine from Jeggs but no AC and lights don't pop up. If you are interested in any of them let me know and I will personally go take a closer look at them for you. Best of luck in your search.

PS It looks like they removed the adds this week. Sorry.

My wife wants to sell her 82 vette. It's pretty much all original with mirror tops. She has had some medical issues and now has a service dog. Unfortunately, the car just doesn’t fit her life any more. It is fully loaded and in great condition. No rust anywhere. Has only 34,000 miles.
It’s white with deep red interior.
I can send some pics for you to see if you send an email address..
Thanks,
Rob

I have posted my wife's 82 on the forum. It has many photos. It sounds like it meets all your requirements.

I'm going to put my Vette on the market in the spring, but if this is something you'd be interested in let me know. I have a 1973 Corvette with 56000 thousand original miles on it. I pulled the original #'s matching engine last year because it was dining on oil. I have broke it down and had it magnafluxed to make sure there were no cracks in the block or issues with the heads. All good, just needs the cylinders to be re-bored and re-built. If I sell the car it goes with it.

I have installed a Crate motor from Blueprint engines, 383 Stroker with 420 hp and 450 lb ft of torque. I had the original Th-400 Automatic trans rebuilt, had the trailer arms, bushings and bearings done, added an MSD fuel injection system, High performance radiator and electric fan controled by the MSD system, Hooker headers, and a custom exhaust with a flare towards the modern C5 and C6. Recently installed a new A/C compressor set up for R11, and left it under an empty vacuum for the season. It has new tires all the way around, new dash pad, new center console, and new tranny cable. New brake pads all the way around and new calipers on the rear.
I have almost all the receipts, I have registration from the prior owner from 1992 when the car had 42k on it. So I'm confident that the mileage is accurate. There is no rust on the frame and the bird cage is in very good condition. The Paint is about 20 years old, but as you can see from the photos, its in very good condition.

In August 2015 at the Dream Ride show.

Front end has a new nose

Interior has many new components, including Clock, Oil pressure gauge, headlight switch, and Bluetooth stereo. E-Brake works too.

Default FS [OH] 81 Original Silver/Charcoal Auto, 49,900 miles

I have a gorgeous all-original 2-owner silver and gray '81 that I have owned since '85 FS on this site because I just purchased a '12 Grand Sport. Mileage is 49,850. I have it listed for $15,899 but will negotiate on the price if it goes to a good home where I know it will be well cared for. Free car cover and 2 cans of R12 go with the car. My ad is on this site.
