Default Just passing this ad along 1970 LT1 -Not Mine

Just saw this one and thought I would pass it along. Not mine but looks real nice for the money. Black too which is pretty rare for an LT1.

Black is rare for a 70 LT1. Especially since it was never offered........

I'm pretty sure I've seen this car before. The color black is not original on this car.

It looks great with the black vinyl hardtop, black walls and the PO2's.Would like to see the trim tag, seller states he bought 7 LT-1's from a collector. I remember a Black 70 LT-1 selling at Mecum auction about 8 years ago,if I recall it was ordered in primer and painted black by dealer. There is a factory Black 72 vert ordered by a GM exec and was bid to 70k or so at Mecum a couple of years ago. Maybe someone can post it here from the Mecum info net.

I'm not ruling out a black 1970 LT1 could have been made, but I am almost positive I've seen this car and it was not black originally.
I have seen a letter by GM sent to a customer of a new 1970 that was preordered in late 1969. The customer asked for it to be painted black. The GM letter said they could not do it as the color was discontinued. I am hoping I saved a copy of it. That does not mean that they didnt make one, but I would think it would have to be for someone very special. It would clearly have to have a special tag and some good docs to back up a claim of a black 1970.

Hi,
You're right Ralph, the oil filler is especially notable!
It's the little details that always make me wonder… about the rest of the car.
The wiper door actuator is mounted upside-down and doesn't the air cleaner lid look like a $9.99 Cal-Custom special.. look at the area around the wing nut?
Maybe this the one out of the 7 that he REALLY got stung on?!?
Regards,
Alan

The distributor shield is wrong or did that change during the 70 MY? Mine is a May build and I have the full dog house. Would love to see the trim tag.

Gee I thought I had the only black 70. Think the jury is still out on the ignition serial number change. My june 16 has the box. Also think the wiper vacuum pie used a straight tube with a curved hose. (To lazy to go to the garage and check))

I sent the guy a message two days ago asking for the trim info, he never replied. That is probably one of the reasons why he is having trouble selling.

I sent him a message a while ago asking what the original color was according to the trim tag.

Never heard from him

Default Beautiful Corvette!

Beautiful Corvette!!!

Quite a few things not quite correct, but still a beautiful Corvette with a LT-1 hood and nice paint. And for a fair market price, I would be very, very proud to drive it just as she sits!!!

That may be true but before anyone drops 40k they are going to want some simple questions answered
