IN SEARCH OF/ WANT TO BUY: fathers 1970 corvette
ISO: The information of the current owner of this 1970 vette. Looking for some help. this is my father's old 70. The green are the old photos of it in the prime in the late 70s the white photos are its current state from someone inquireing to purchas it from an older gentleman a year ago in Florida. It has since then *supposedly* been sold to a family friend in GEORGIA. Id love to purchase it back to restore it to its old glory. Any information would be so much help. These older vettes are hard to find especially in a condition like this. Thank you anyone for your help
Its a 4 speed manual car, what makes it even rarer is the fact it has the RECTANGLE headlight conversion on it *as seen in old photos. ALSO we still have the original hood and original engine!

If you have the original engine for this car, it will have a an engine stamp, and a VIN derivative stamp.
Here is a photo of a different 1970 Corvette engine pad.
Lets assume that this your original engine. WE j=know you dad's car was a coupe, so the 1970 VIN sequence started as
194370S4xxxxx.
Now, using the vin derivative on your engine (the engine in the picture) we can complete the VIN for this car.
THe VIN derivative on this engine is 70S402650. That translates to'
70 - Year
S = vehcile assembly plant (St. Louis_
4 = check digit
02650 - the 2,650th 1970 Corvette made.
So, your complete VIN would be 194370S402650.
Make sense?
Fine the VIN derivative from your original engine (make sure it is a real 1970 Corvette engine), then fill in the blanks

You can also try and contact the last known state Revenue Dept that the car was registered. That's what I did to get the VIN of a Corvette that I owned over 40 years ago.
