WTB '68-72 in #2 or #3 condition
I'm in search of a 1968-1972 Corvette that fits the following profile:
- Strong #3 or good #2 condition in original configuration
- 327 or 350
- Prefer 4-speed but would consider exceptional automatic
- Power steering
- 4-wheel disc brakes
- Prefer styling of coupe but will consider convertibles as well
- Color preferences are blue, silver, white, and maybe orange. Green is a possible if interior is tan.
Nice to haves are:
- Tilt/tele
- Power windows
- Documented history
- A/C that works
My budget is up to $25K with a little bit of wiggle room above that for an exceptional car.
I am open to all feedback and constructive advice on the above, especially as it relates to automatics versus 4-speeds in the C3's.

I have a '72 coupe I am trying to decide whether I am going to sell. It is pewter silver on black and is equipped with ps, pb, pw, auto, ac, and deluxe interior. Pictures show aftermarket wheels but I have the original rally's with bias plies. The original white stripe Goodyear is in the spare carrier and has never been run. Original base 350 in the car runs very strong. The car earned an NCRS Duntov award many years ago before I bought it. I had it judged once after I acquired it and it received another top flight award. It has just over 22,000 original miles and drives like a 1 year old corvette. The paint was redone before I bought it and is in very good condition but not perfect. The pics below were taken about a year ago but I have included a link to photobucket for many more pics from 7 or so years ago. The car has not changed from that time but I have moved from Ohio to Washington. Minimum I would sell car for is $30k. It is as clean on the bottom as the top like it was just delivered to the dealer, never driven in rain. These cars are way undervalued compared to the 63 to 67 vettes and if this car was a 67 it would sell for $70k. The 65 coupe shown in photobucket is sold. It was a 365hp air car but it had more stories in its past so I let it go. If I sell this one I will probably regret it. Click the photobucket link below for many pics.

I think you could have just about any 4 speed base engine 72 coupe you wanted. I see a few dealers asking 27-28k for the ones they think are nice but you could get them for 25.
Mine's gone through a frame off nut and bolt restoration using reasonably priced nos, used, and quality reproduction parts with the intent to drive the car. Original this, date coded that, everything rebuilt etc etc.
It's not for sale but if someone offered me $25k in the Dunkin' Donuts parking lot I'd be calling a cab.

Over the weekend I sent him a link to an ad for a different (and gorgeous) '69 automatic coupe that had an even higher asking price and his response this morning was that it was a nice car but priced too high.
The rub is that the dealers are routinely pricing their cars well above the private market, so who knows? I'll keep looking. I may even end up spending more than I wanted to and buy from a reputable dealer just so I can have a sense of confidence in what I'm getting.

The search is concluded. Today I purchased a 1969 (non-matching) L48 4-speed coupe. Now I just have to arrange the logistics to get it in my garage and then wait for spring to arrive so I can start driving it.
Thanks to all for your advice.

I tried to send you a PM but your PM box has exceeded it limit. Let me know If you ever decide you want to sell your car as I am looking for the same car as the OP of this thread. I missed a real nice blue 72 last year or $20k. My budget is up to $25k for the right car. Thx

Love the pewter color of the above car. I'm sure it is really nice and I am still looking for a 4spd convert 70-72 with those options, but a nice coupe may have to suffice. Not diggin an automatic. May be worth considering closer to 25k.

Here is the car I found:
It's possible I could have found a matching-numbers car in equally nice shape for less, but this one was in CT about 90 minutes from me, so I could see it myself and transport it for the price of fuel and a trailer rental. I bought this one for $24K.

Hi Mike, can you give me the particulars on your car? I too have been looking for the same thing. 4spd is a must and so is ps and pb along with originality. If you don't want to post pics here, you can PM me. Thx
