FS: 1978 Indy PACE CAR (Missouri)
1978 Indianapolis 500 Pace Car
Numbers match- original engine and transmission
Good condition, nice paint, decals are not on the car, however, I have an entire set of decals. I am leaving them off for now while selling.
Interior in good condition.
I have owned the car for 6 years.
Previous owner owned the car for 22 years.
Odometer reads 27,073 .. I believe it to be 127,000 miles.
It has the L-48 engine and a 3 speed automatic .
I have 2 sets of T-tops: a black set and the coveted M1131 glass tops in great shape- small damage in one corner
Car is located in St. Louis, Missouri.
Priced to sell. Have 16 year old ready to drive. This will not make a good car for a young teenager. Need the space, and need the money for a different car.
Would like it gone this month!
Have been a member on here for 16 years and have sold 2 previous cars here on the forum .
Priced to move. First $11,800 takes it. Pictures to follow

Great car to take to shows and cruise around in. Looks sharp and won't break the bank.
The bad:
small damage to corner of t-top
clock on instrument panel does not work
passenger seat belt does not want to retract
Front carpet looks dated and dirty-- could use replacing
some spider webbing at very front of bumper and small bubbles in paint on the hood. I know this is very common-- but want to disclose everything.
steering wheel could be recovered--starting to show wear.
Again, these are not major items, but these were on my "to do list" to take care of.

Great looking car for one you believe to have 127,000 miles on it. The interior doesn't look like it has that many miles on it for sure.

Im not sure. It was to the right when the car was off for the pictures and as soon as I started the car it read and worked correctly. When searching on the forum, this seems to happen frequently on c3 corvettes, and people seem to notice it when they change batteries, or jump the car, or disconnect and reconnect batteries.
This would make sense since I connected the battery from its hibernation and pulled the car out for pictures.

Oh okay, i'm sure its not a big deal..I know on the newer cars you can reboot the computer on the car by disconnecting and reconnecting the battery... maybe its got something to do with that.
Thank you for the answer
I bought a new 82 model back then and it was my only C3 model. Don't even remember how it drove since its been so long

I dont think they are original, they seem in very good shape and have a lot of tread left. But , I don't know for sure. These were the tires on the car when I bought it. As for as the 27k miles, I didn't want to represent it as something that it isn't. I bought it with the understanding that this car could have 127k and that didn't bother me. Just wanted a nice car to take to cruises and shows.

The tires are not original. The original tires were Goodyear GT Radial. You wouldn't want to drive on original tires.
Good looking car and best of luck with the sale.

I'll say it again; what a great looking 78' Pace Car. Definitely one of the best "potential" high mileage C3's out there. Thanks for your honesty about the potential mileage issue!

No problem. Just like to be honest and upfront with potential buyers. This is a good looking car that won't break the bank. I have sold 2 other corvettes here on the forum. This one needs a new home.

Was looking for 70-72 Coupe and ran across your Pace Car. They have always intrigued me. The paint scheme on these cars really show the cars great lines. This one has a lot of potential. Drive as is or plunk an LS motor and OD in it and have a ball! GLWS
