Default 69 Stingray Convertible

Selling a super nice 69 stingray. Has 78k miles, 400 sbc, has a nice sounding cam, hooker super comp headers, side pipes, edelbrock performer intake manifold, auto trans. Convertible top is in great condition and the car also comes with a hard top. The hard top is not the same color as the car. Interior looks to be original and in great condition. Paint is nice, not perfect, but looks really good. The car is overall in good condition and is a nice cruiser. Ac and heat are there but stopped working. Haven't looked into why. It never gets driven and that's the reason for the sale. Just put a new battery in it cause the last one died because it never gets driven. Price is 25k

Looks like the motor is actually a 400 sbc. Hmm, never knew lol.

Also has hooker super comp headers and an edelbrock performer intake manifold.

Interesting! Take a picture of the block stamp pad in front of the passenger side cylinder head and post that please.

That looks like the casting date at the rear of the block. Front should have two sets of numbers and letters showing factory code, build date, type of engine, and then a vin derivative.

Should be at lower front of cylinder head. Small narrow pad as shown in these pictures. You may need to use some solvent to remove any paint that might be obscuring the numbers. Don't use a scraper or anything like that as it can make it harder to read. If nothing is there at all, the block may have been decked (material removed) during a rebuild, like the top picture.

Ah gotcha. Well it's painted and I don't see any markings on it at all. I will try to clean the paint off and see if anything is under there tomorrow.

that fuel line won't move much at all, that's about as good as I can get without removing the line.

Ok, that's the pad! Usually you can see something even if it is painted. But that fuel line is blocking it pretty well. Oh well!

Forgive me if I'm missing the point but why all the hoopla over the stamp pad? We know it's not the original motor because

1) It's a 400.
2) Chevrolet never put a 400 in a Corvette.
3) The 400 never went into a production vehicle till 1970.

To me, whatever is on the pad is irrelevant. But that's just me and like I said, maybe I'm missing the point.

On the plus side I will add that the 3951511 is the early 70-72 400 4 bolt block. I'd say this 69 convertible has a lot going for it and priced right.
Great looking car! Good luck with your sale. I'm sure someone will ****** it up.

Thank you. It's a cool cruiser. Just sits in the garage though. Probably put 150 miles on it in the past 2 years lol
