Subject: 1993 Corvette convertible /CLIENT'S PAYMENT DETAILS

Hello There,
I appreciate your mail and confirmation to proceed on the transaction. I am
impressed by the prompt attention accorded the transaction considering the
need for us to round up on time.

My client has accepted to pay the stipulated price immediately with a
cashier’s check, just that the check, is going to be in an amount larger
than the cost of the vehicle. Reason being that it is a refund payment to my
client and the Company issuing the check has the policy not to issue more
than one check to a refund payment, which means that the check is going to
carry the whole amount em-block for the sales and shipping of the vehicle
from your base. That's home pickup.

The check that will be sent to is $25,200.00 and you would have to deduct
the cost of your vehicle $18,500.00 from it immediately you cash it and send
the balance $6,700.00 to my client via wire transfer (Western Union /
MoneyGram) to offset the shipping charges. So he is entrusting you to handle
his funds with honesty, care and utmost confidentiality.

Then you are required to send your full Name, which should be on check, and
the address where the check is going to be sent to you and your contact
telephone numbers for fast communication. On receipt of this information,
the check will be sent to you. After you send the balance, the shipper will
be paid and they will come and pick up the vehicle immediately.

Ask question where you are not cleared. I would be there to explain further.

Looking forward to rounding up this transaction as soon as possible.

Thanks and have a wonderful day.

Yours sincerely,

Barry Collin.

Sorry. Not releasing the vehicle or title until I have the cash in my hand. Have your secretary cash the check and bring the money, only then will I consider the car sold to you. I didn't just fall off the turnip truck

Be very careful when dealing with anyone stating that they are a serious buyer, blah blah blah wanting to buy immediately at cetera do not accept Paypal or money order. Also posting your car on Craigslist do not respond to email addresses very very scary

I am from Germany and currently want to buy a Vette in the US.
Ive had the car inspected and it looks nice. We agreed on a price but now we are facing the problem how to make the payment.

Of course I could wire the money and hope my shipper gets the car and title when he goes there to pick up the car. But thats a high risk on my side. I might receive nothing and the money is gone.

I proposed to make the full payment after the title has been sent to the shipping company. Then seller has the car and money until its picked up. However, seller does not feel comfortable with that. I now proposed to make an instalment of 500 and then pay the rest after the title has been sent. Will see how seller responds.

You see it is pretty hard because some are too frightened even with serious buyers. What would I want with a title piece of paper? I do want the car! But at least the title would give me some comfort before paying the big money...

I hope we will find a solution.

Just wanted to give you an impression of the other side :-) :-)

I'm sure if Law enforcement want to catch someone all they would have to do is try a little bit...... few tracking devices in the car and you will catch something.... they are just too lazy to figure it out. I already had one Vette stolen from me... I'd like to catch somebody taking one....

Whilst I would agree that there are many scammers out there, there has to be some trust that goes both ways. I've agreed to purchase an LT-1 from a forum member. He's in the USA & I'm in the UK. After the initial contact to list my interest I suggest a phone call to discuss the process which we did one Sunday evening. Price agreed, I set about sourcing a shipper to collect and export the car and in the process (first time for me) was advised to use the shippers ESCROW service where the entire funds have been sent to the shipper for the car and the associated shipping, insurance and ESCROW costs. They have advised me that prior to the collection and exchange of funds they will carry out a test transaction with the seller where they send a nominal amount - $50 or so while the seller has access to his bank account to see the deposit hit is account they say within 15 minutes. Once that is set up & confirmed they will check the car is as described and that all paperwork (title etc) is in order then make the balance transfer.

I'll be informed throughout and given all the dates fro collection, transfer, shipping etc..

Hopefully it all works out and both parties are 100% happy. It's delayed the seller getting his sale funds by a couple of weeks but he said he's fine with the arrangements. In an ideal world I would have traveled to see the car in person but as in this case, it's not always possible.

I took the fact he's a long time forum member as a good sign and a reference for a previous over seas buyer he sold too confirmed to me that the car he bought from the same seller was as good, if not better than originally described. (thanks Gunther!) that and the car is NCRS 98.4 gave me the confidence to proceed without seeing the car in person.

Hopefully I'll be able to report back with all positives

Thanks to all for the info.. Going thru trying to sell my '74 Coupe right now and so far have just been getting hit with Companies that claim they have people who want a car just like I have and if I list my car with them they can get me a quick sale. Most of these contacts reference a 402 area code and a quick Internet check of their phone numbers show they just take your money. Eye's wide open!

I had a 75 Cadillac eldorado listed on eBay and some guy from Spain said he wanted it. So I waited for his funds to be sent and clear my bank. After they did he arranged a car carrier to come and pick it up from my western Chicago neighborhood. Everything went smooth, the car was kinda rough and didn't know why he would bother shipping it to Spain.
2 years go by and then he sent me pictures of the car totally restored being used for his daughters wedding....in Spain. I was totally floored.

Thanks for the heads up. It's sad any of us even need to deal with this kind of stuff. The lowest of the low. Maybe it's me, but the two links in the first post seem to be non functional. I get "page not found" errors on both.

That is what we tend to do here in Europe

I am looking for a C3 in 5 to 8 grand range....

Some ads to good to be true - so I am afraid of the scam in the other direction...

Are ads like this genuine:
http://corvettetraderclassifieds.com...orvette-t-top/

http://corvettetraderclassifieds.com...eam-ray-t-top/

http://www.vettehound.com/geo/classi...php?a=2&b=9991

http://www.vettehound.com/geo/classi...php?a=2&b=9739

http://www.vettehound.com/geo/classi...php?a=2&b=9700

http://www.vettehound.com/geo/classi...php?a=2&b=8897

So the marked two seem to be way off the regular price level for th emodel.

Where is the trick?

Basically - I am looking for a solid runner, non modified, original wheels, rust free, especially the birdcage!, not cracked dash, the rest is not so critical to fix for me.

Respray and re-upholstery are not so big deal here...

Any feedback on this?

Kind regards and thanks in advance!

Here is my 1975 Corvette that I will sell for $6750. It is an automatic with original engine. Cleanest frame and birdcage I have seen. Interior is mostly fine except for driver side door panel. A few issues with the electrical...power windows ...gages... The bumpers are starting to crack..
Over all a nice car

I haven't bought a Corvette in quite a while so I can't address some of you're questions but I have had a Corvette painted recently and all my estimates were in the $6,000 to $7,000 range and I ended up paying in that range. I think the '81 you referenced said it was in need of paint so unless you can get a much better deal in your area ... figure those amounts in. I've not heard much about selling scams but can attest that probably 75% of the calls I get on my '74 that I have for sale are scams. My car is out of you're price range but it's expensive to do an extensive reconditioning on one of these babies. The 2 ads that you flagged do sound too good to be true to me, especially if you can't check them out personally. Good luck.

Hi !

Thank you for your reply. Yes, I would pay half of that you named here for a full respray of body and frame (without work on the bircage).

Labor is far less expensive here, parts are only available with expensive overseas shipping.

That is why I am looking for a solid runner, no rust, complete car with no missing parts.

Thanks again for your reply.
