Custom '68 ("Grand Sport C3") for sale...
I put my car for sale because I want to buy a solid axle car... If the car that I'm interested in will sell - the '68 won't be for sale anymore...
If you are looking for a "All Original" Vette... this car is not for you...
If you are a performance enthusiast, that is looking for a absolute head turner and performer, this is the car for you. I spent over 3 years to get the car to it's current condition.
I have over $55k and 100's of hours of my own work into the car.
Most of the invested money went into top of the line performance parts. The engine is a Pro-Built 383 Stroker with somewhere around 500 HP (ALL THROTTLE, NO BOTTLE OR BOOST).
The engine runs on Premium Pump Gas (no expensive Race Gas needed) and runs mid 11's on the 1/4 mile. My best ET was 11.67 @ 119.79 mph (can provide time slips and also a video from the track). I am just an amateur.. A professional driver would probably be able to get the car very close to 10's... The car comes with a hard top that was painted in the same 2 tone paint like the rest of the car (see pics). The hard top is required for drag racing. It makes the car legal to 11.50 on IHRA tracks. A rollcage would be required to run the car on NHRA tracks. (if running faster than 12.00)
Here are some details and technical specifications:
PAINT & BODY:
The paint job is 3 years old and it was painted in Viper Blue with white stripes. There are a few stress cracks in the paint from use (drove over 18k miles with the car during the last 3 years) and from body flex when racing. The paint is shiny and in great "driver" condition otherwise. It is not a perfect show paint job even though it's very nice. I paid $5k for the paint job 3 years ago...
The body was converted to the tilt front design by the original owner who owned a body shop. It was built out of the original front. He also designed the rear spoiler. All 4 fenders are flared approx. 1 inch wider than stock.
INTERIOR:
Very nice shape with later model bucket seats. The gauges are Autometer Phantom gauges. The center console features switches to turn 2 of the extra fans on/off. The linelock switch is in the ashtray. Most of the interior was re-done 3 years ago and is still very nice.
SUSPENSION AND REAR END:
Grand Touring suspension with 460 lbs/inch front coils and KYB shocks. The rear spring is a 330 lbs/inch composite spring (VBP). The rear trailing arms are Van Steel Offset Trailing arms with upgraded bearing assembly. The differential was re-built recently and beefed up with a stronger posi-unit. The gears are 3.73 rear gears. The driveshaft and half shafts are CARBON FIBER and are rated up to 1200 HP.
TRANSMISSION:
Tremec TKO 5-speed with 3.27 first gear and 0.68 overdrive on the 5th gear. This transmission is rated 525 ft/lbs of torque.
On the Highway - 17 - 18 mpg at 70 mph are possible!!
ENGINE:
4-bolt 350 block, bored .030 over with a 400 crank = 383 ci. Heads are Dart Iron Eagle with 215 cc intake runners and 64 cc chambers (blended (ported) to approx. 68 cc). The Compression ratio is somewhere around 10:1. Pistons are Speedpro Hyperutectic pistons. The cam is a custom
solid cam with .525/.545 lift and 238/248 degrees duration @ .050. Pushrods are the stronger hardened type. The rocker arms are Lunati Roller Rockers (1.5 Ratio). The intake is a polished Victor Jr. The ports were matched to the gasket. The engine has approx. 10k miles on it and a couple drag strip passes. It runs as good as on the day I got it.
CARBURATION:
Holley HP series 750 double pumper with mech. secondaries (80528)
IGNITION:
50000 Volt HEI Ignition with MSD 6AL box. I have all "pills" from 6000 to 6800.
COOLING:
Triple electric fans. Primary (always on) fan is a Permacool 2950 cfm single fan. Dual Flex-a-Lite electric fans are the secondary fans and can be individually turned on.
The Radiator is the top of the line Griffin Aluminum Radiator with 1 1/4 inch rows.
The radiator hoses are stainless steel hoses with aluminum caps. The overflow tank is made of stainless steel and is the same type as used on many Streed Rods..
AIR INTAKE:
Street: Drop base with 2 1/4 inch K&N air filter.
Track: Custom Built Cold Air Intake (Cowl Induction) (not in pictures)
EXHAUST:
Chrome Hooker Sidepipes with 1 7/8 primary pipes and 4 inch side exhaust. (open)
Crankcase evacuation system is connected to the collector.
WHEELS AND TIRES:

4 x 15 x 8.5 Centerline Auto Drag with 255/60R15 BFG Radial TA's (lots of tread left)
Track Seup:
REAR: 15 x 8.5 Centerline CONVO PRO with 28 x 11.5 - 15 ET Street tires with tubes (only 10 passes on those tires)

Re: Custom '68 (Vettastic)
Is the lettering on the front fenders and the rear end paint or removable stickers/decals?
