Default Malcolm Konner Commemorative Edition?

I read in 1986, 50 Malcolm Konner Commemorative Edition Corvettes were built in honor of Malcolm Konner, founder of Malcolm Konner Chevrolet of Paramus, New Jersey, (now called Paramus Auto Mall)

Are there any pics out there of one, or do any CF members own one?

C4Jimmy, were you the one who saw one for sale, but needed restoration? If you are, I was wondering how that deal went.

here's another ad from Jerry:

Malcom Konner's family did some charity help with the Corvette Museum. I'm sure they could help as well.

Cool! Thanks, now I know what one looks like! Malcolm Konner is where my '92 was purchased originally. Now its called the Paramus Auto Mall, and its like 15 mins away from me (no traffic of course!) They are still very Corvette oriented.

Its a pretty cool lookin' car, I like the paint scheme!

the Connor edition was the first and last time that Chevy did a special for a dealership. Only 50 were made.

I don't remember the breakdowns... I think it's 30 autos, 20 sticks.

I had asked a salesman at Kerbek Chevy in Atlantic City why they didn't have a Corvette named for them. He told me GM got so much grief from dealers after the Malcolm Conner came out that they swore they would never name a car for a dealer again.

From what I've read about the Konner editions, the Konner dealership agreed to buy all 50 of those. With the shape GM is in now I'd bet any dealer who wanted to do that would find a willing ear. Sales is sales!

I remember as a teenager walking into their showroom to check it out. I had seen a story about it in a magazine and made my older cousin drive me to the dealership to see it in person.

Here's another pic of a Malcom Konner from a "different" angle. This was on a lift at the NCM. I just shot a few pics for later reference.

If Gary Konner, son of Malcolm, is still around, he might know the VINs. A super nice guy. Don't know if he's involved with the new Konner Chevy story or not, but it's likely. When John Powell and Frank Ellis were searching in early '88 for a way to get some Vettes built for the Corvette Challenge series, Gary offered to put them all on his floor plan until they would be dished off to other dealers. In exchange, he asked that the series by named for the Konner family. The offer came very close to being accepted.
