Default Bend Pak open-center scissor lift -- anyone use it?

This lift has me intrigued.

http://www.bendpak.com/product_info.isg?products_id=757

Because of limited space in my one-car garage, a 4-post lift will get seriously in the way all the time, and also is hardly ideal for brake/wheel/suspension work, etc. This lift would seem to address these issues rather nicely. But, is it sturdy and solid, or does it seem to rack or wobble with a car on it?

Any/all feedback welcome.

TIA

Call me crazy (and cheap!) but I've seen these at Harbor Freight and they got me to thinking. Buy 4 of these and weld a steel bar between each pair at the bottom with a pin at one end of the bar so you can take them apart. Put one pair behind the front wheels and one pair in front of the rear wheels. The bar that runs between the front and rear pairs could have pads welded on to contact the C4's frame at the proper spot. Remove the crank handles and use your air impact wrench to raise each corner a few inches at a time. Looks like it would get the car about 1 1/2' off the ground relatively easy and you could leave it dismantled and out of the way when done.
Each one is rated for $3,500# and only costs $19.95 each.

Those jacks look similar to the ones they use to lift slide on truck campers .

Although I don't have one of these units, my dad has a Bend-Pak 12k pound 4-post lift and it is VERY sturdy and well made. Heavy fricking thing tho - had to have the carpenter crew working on the house help us move the ramps around.

Sounds like a good idea - the only probs would be needing a 240V line and the weight.

Yikes! Hadn't noticed that figure in the specs. I'd have to recruit half of the club members to help me with this one.

With a base that's as small as those appear to be, I don't think I'd use them to lift a Vette. And I sure as hell wouldn't get under it unless I'd dropped it back down on jack stands first!

I don't think I quite understand your question. If you're asking about the power source, it's 220v AC at 60 Hz. I didn't see a current draw spec...

It looks like the lift runs about $3000-$3500. Google Search

EDIT: The reason there is no price listed is that Bend-Pak does not sell directly to consumers - only to distributors.

I found a guy in Greensboro(local pick-up for us) that sells these for 1500.00(6000 pound version) and he will do better on more than one unit... I'll be making the trip in a week or so because I have another guy wanting a two post(1950.00)..They are all bend-pak products.I was going to go two post but I like this deal better because of space concerns(and it's portable)... No good for transmission or exhaust work though.

I have the Bend Pak Model MD 6XP and I like it alot. It is not the best for all situations but it doesn't take up much room and is portable. I use it all time for tire changing and brake and shock work. It is very stable and I will go under the car with the safety latch set. I got it from American Equipment for about $1500 plus shipping.
