Default Oil Filter L98

I have found out that oil filter number has changed for C4 L98 engine, and rest of you. We used a AC Delco PF25 oil filter, and now they no longer make that number. The replacement is now PF454. To me it looks a little smaller that PF25. Will find out next month when I change the oil.

I think it is a little smaller. I read somewhere that the newer AC filters are not made in the U.S.A anymore. They are made in Korea or somewhere. I started using Purolator filters in my vehicles, the Pure one models only.

Next to impossible to find the PF25 or aftermarket equal anymore. The PF454 looks waaay too small for me so I use a PF 1218 which is a much larger filter. It fits easily in the space and doesn't hang below the oil pan at all . The 1218 holds almost a full quart

I use a K&N in my 86'. I like the hex nut molded into the bottom. It makes it easy to remove. The filter seems plenty big as well.

You have the factory "oil heater", yes? If you remove that there shouldn't be any clearance problems

Think about it.
I'm sure anyone that has been under their car and fooled with the oil filter knows what I'm talking about.

i use the pf35 on my '85 without problems - it also has the oil cooler (part of the z51 package) - its not an oil heater.

What part number would I be looking at for the K&N and Purolator that fit the L98? I've been rather stumped trying to find those PF25's, and I like the hex nut idea the K&N's have.
And thanks for the FYI on the other AC Delco filters.

AC filters are made by WIX, along with STP filters.

Bingo! You got it, the oil cooler. In cooler weather climates people swear it only warms the oil.
