I have an '88. The mirror on both sun visors is turning black from the back side. Like the silvering has failed. Is there any way to replace these short of replacing the entire visor assy?

I'm taking a guess because I haven't done it, but maybe your local hardware store can cut you a new mirror. (I've done this on house projects, but not the car)
My visors are deteriorating in the cloth department, not the mirrors, and I've looked at the replacement visors for my '85. Right now the cost is too high at Corvetteamerica, Eckler's, etc.

most glass shops can resilver mirrors.....
