World Record Bid for Corvette
Just watched a 1969 L88 Coupe, in War Bonnet Yellow go for $310,000
This is the highest sale on a Corvette ever according to the announcers on Barrett Jackson Auctions.

Perhaps the highest for a C3 - I seem to remember that someone paid around 600K for a 1967 L88 with something like 20 miles. I would be suprised to see Corvette #3 go for less that 500k sometime later this evening.

I may have misunderstood thier specific wording on the $300k 69, but they did say "World Record"
I'm looking forward to the other Vettes tonight

I believe they were speaking in reference to a third generation Corvette record. A 67 L88 did sell for over $600K with something like 12 miles on the odometer a couple of years ago. ( Had been purchased new as a dragstrip project. Was disassembled, but never finished. ) Second owner restored to original and held on to it as a trailered vehicle.
Unbelievable prices this year for mid-sixties / early seventies American Muscle. Best of the best, but can such a market be sustained across a decade or more?

However, a 1970 Chevelle LS6 454 SS went for one million one hundred and fifty thousand US dollars!

My cousin has early production 1953 all original, all matching vette. He was/is the original owner. Haven't talked to him in years, but have heard he turned down over 1/2 million for it. i remember riding in it back when he first got it, and that's when I decided someday I would also have a corvette.

It makes me wish that I had kept my 1970 LS6 Balwin Motion 454 SS
