Default What is the performance on a 95 Ford Torus SHO

My wifes boss has a 95 Ford Torus SHO. She thinks because it has a stick and i have an auto, she could take my 95 lt1 in a race. I don't think so, but since i'm not a Ford expert, does anyone know the stats on the SHO. My thought is that the SHO is probably a bad foot car compared to the grand prix or monte carlo, but not to a vet. What are your thoughts?

She could probably take an 84 vette, if it was misfiring and had no compression in #8

I don't remember the specs but be advised that the SHO was/is a HOT car regardless of it being a sedan. The SHO will take the Monte Carlo & the Grand Prix without sweating much. Your vette will still take it but I don't think you'll easily walk away from it. Regarding the issue of the SHO being a stick and your vette an automatic well "don't worry" the facts are that you can turn a more consistantly faster time with your automatic than you can with a stick. Have fun

A SHO is a 220hp, mid 15 sec 1/4 mile, and 7 sec 0-60mph car. Good for a FWD Mass Market Sedan, but nowhere near a Lt1 Vette. BTW I think a SHO would give a stock 84 a run for its money...

I raced a SHO for a few years. Off the line they lack the torque to keep up with the RWD V8's. But at speed, they run VERY well, and could give about anything a run for the money. That motor is a work of art. It generated 73 hp/L way back in 1986 when it was designed. Nowadays the Acuras are generating more hp/L, but it took them 10 years to beat those numbers. The car redlined at 8000 RPM, and it pulled all the way up there, too.

My car was a '92 5-speed, and with minor bolt-ons (chip, exhaust, y-pipe, cone filter, etc) I could run neck and neck with a 5.0 Rustang GT from a stop, and by 70 pull away from it, and just keep on pulling. The next gen 4.6 GT's were a joke, they were even slower. Brand new ones are much quicker, but I sold my car before they were introduced last year, so I never ran one.

I never had a chance to race a 'vette, but you should have no problem. You'll easily get the jump off the line, and if you go up past 70 or 80 mph you'll stop pulling away, but she'll never catch you. More importantly, do you really think your boss's wife can row through the gears effectively?

The SHO is amazing for what it is, but it's not a 'vette killer.

I have a friend who has a '94 SHO, and a buddy who has an '84 Vette, and my '86, the '84 and the SHO was always close, with the Vette always pulling a nose or two out, my '86 was not as much of a race, on a good stretch I could get a few car lengths up to 80 or so.....
