Raising hood with linear actuator
Chris,
I sent you a email with my #..
If anybody else is interested in using a linear act to open and close
your hood, I will try to make up a drawing on how and where i put the
act. It worked good for me..

Where did you install the trigger switch? What is the approximate cost? Does the manual lever still work?
Great idea!
Thanks

Thanks Eddie. Let me know if that thing still works. I had already started a thread in C4 Tech. Here is the link for anyone interested.

Funny guy.
I wanted it because my project car came without a hood or hood prop. So I have to buy something, and I can get this for not a whole lot more than a prop. Have you seen the prices on a C4 hood prop, they start at $50 for a used one that might or might not work.

Sounds like a good way to crack some fiberglass. How do latch it? The manuals say drop it 12 inches onto the latches. I've pushed them down but that torques the big clamshell.
I can raise my hood with 1 finger since replacing the lift tube. Electric hood would be very showy. Can you hang a disco ball right where the upside down headlight can hit it? Now THAT would be happening.

I've been kicking this around too for quite some time...

I've had some experience with using hydraulic cylinders to lift/hold/close gullwing doors, seats, trunk lids, etc. and the forces you can encounter are tremendous.
