How often do you change filters etc...?
Please tell me what is the correct service interval for these parts:
1. air filter
2. fuel filter
3. dist. cap
4. rotor
5. spark plugs
6. wires
I've had my fuel filter and ignition parts for 20K and now my engine is starting to run roughly.
What about these:
7. serpentine belt
8. trans oil + filter
I do change oil + filter every 4350 miles and the air filter every 7500 miles.

i change the air filter as soon as it starts to look like its building up alot of debris, also you should change the fuel filter if you have 20 k on it do you run the car till it gets pretty close to empty cause if you do some reason the tank has debris on the bottom witch will catch in the filter and start to build up. the serpentine belt should be changed if you see alot of cracks, thats a sign of worn belt. the ignition system is easy you can tell if the cap and the rotor may be worn. i change my plugs every other oil change i use rapid fire plugs!

Yes, I did change the fuel filter today and it runs smoothly again. And yes, I usually drive it quite empty (reserve on).
OK ,I must change the belt too then.
Plugs every other oil change? Thats like every 7000 miles? My Haynes manual suggests something like 30K for plugs. My plugs have 20K now. Hmm...maybe I should do that soon too.
Anybody else, how often you do this stuff?

I have a 1992 LT1 so here goes:
Air filter = K+N so I wash it out every 2 months
Oil filter = 4000 along with 5 quarts of 5w-40 Valvoline Synthetic
Opti-crap = No cap and rotor to mess with
Plugs = Bosche +4's and change every 20,000
Wires = Lift hood at night and if you get a light show then change
Trans filter = 15,000 along with multi quarts of Valvoline Synthetic
Power steering = Flush and add new every 2 years
PVC valve = If it rattles you leave it alone if no rattle then change
Brake fluid = Flush and add new every 3 years
Forgot the belt = change it when you spot cracks in the webbing. Start looking about 50,000 :yesnod:
