Where are the wheel-weights on your wheels?

Where are the wheel-weights on your wheels?
Even though you can balance the wheel better with them on the outside and inside, it always leaves a hellaious scratch or mark on the wheel. I always have'm put all weights on the inside. If they don't its, time!

That's where they put mine. He'd been there and done that before. They work fine and I notice no vibration.

On my 86, they put the weights on the inside........ From the looks of things, the previous owner probably had them put on the outside, but the specs say they should go on the inside lip of the rim....

What specs? They go on whichever side of the rim the tire balancing machine says. When I was younger I never wanted outside weights because I thought they were ugly. But after years of having vibrating steering wheels, I'll take a small hit on the looks for precision balance anyday. In fact I hardly notice them anymore. It's one of those things you accept, like license plates, they're ugly but I wouldn't take them off either. Maybe they just all suck around here, but I have yet to find a tire man who can get all the vibration out with no outside weights, not even with the stick-ons behind the spokes. Oh you get lucky occasionally, but not very often.

I guess your all right I was think'n about it yesterday that small vib coming from the right or left rear. But if they put a huge weight on the outside I think it would bother me, what can you say.......

My weights are on the inside and I don't have any vibration. There is enough room behind the spokes on my ZR1 rims to put the weights near the outside edge if need be. The guy who balanced my tires, also hid all of the weights behind the spokes.

Mine are on the inside also. I had a hard time getting a good balance job until I found a tire store that used a Road Force balancer. They actually apply force (to simulate the weight of the car) to the tire as it is spinning and then break the bead and rotate the tire on the rim to equal out the heavy spots on both. Lastly they balance them on a high speed balancer and this is by far the best balance job I have ever had, it was important to me since my car routinely sees high speeds. This machine has been discussed on here before and maybe someone else will give you the model # of the machine used...I can not remember. It is well worth the effort to seek one out though! Take care...Jeff
