It's the Bose CDM tuner module. Removal has to be the second worst C4 repair there is, right behind the dreaded heater core.

Bose CDM Bypass
If I just want to disconnect the CDM / amp to install an aftermarket head unit, wouldn't it be a lot less of a hassle?
I'm figuring I can just unplug the two harnesses from it....the one going to the OEM Bose head unit would be discarded and the other one should plug into the new aftermarket head unit (vis a new GM wiring harness adapter.
Yes ??????????
