Performance difference between 2.59 and 3.07 rear gears?
Anybody know or know where I can find the 0-60mph and 1/4 mile times for a stock 96 LT1 equipped with either the standard 2.59 or optional 3.07s? I'm wondering if I found the right 96 LT1 but with 2.59s whether that should be a deal breaker. My last 96 LT1 had the 3.07s. I don't intend to drag race but would I notice the difference street light to street light? TIA...

Yes, you will notice a difference in performance...you will also notice better gas mileage with the 2:59's...if you want the car, negotiate a $6-700 discount and have whatever gears you want installed later...I bought 3:73's and a master install kit from Randy's and had Mike Norris install them...cost me around $700-750 for everything...

Performance difference is definitely noticeable.
I changed the 2.59 gears on my 94 LT1 to 3.31 gears (good choice for street/cruising) .... woke up the car plus, as an added benefit, I actually went up 1 mpg on the interstate when cruising at 80 with cruise control on. I expected mpg to go down (and it did around town) but I must be in a sweet spot of the engine when on the interstate now.
