Default Optima batteries

Hi

I have used Optima batteries in most of my cars over the years and I have a red top in my 87 right now. In my case they have been great and I will continue to use them.

Regards

Default I have an Optima in my CE

I have a 96 with an Optima Red Top in it. It had a new one in the car when I bought it. I had the car for about 4 months (making the battery 7 months old) and the battery was open when I went to start the car one day. I brought it in to have it charged and checked. They told me they would put it on and to come back in an hour. I was ready to do that until I heard the tester horn go off right when they hooked it up. He gave me another and that was that. This one has lasted much longer.

I would recommend you save yourself some money and go to Walmart and by a Maxx battery from there. Generally about $50-60.00 and will work just fine.

I had an optima in my truck. Didn't work any better or last any longer than any other battery. I'll never waste the money on one again. You can get a battery for half as much that is just as good.

I have had both. Currently have a red top in a 55 f100, had it for 5 years, never hesitated to kick the truck over even after ignoring it for several months when stored for the winter. But I also got one of the sealed batteries that Consumers Reports said was the best for the money. They are at Walmart. And you can't beat the price and availability.

I have one in my 96. I did have to have both top posts on the battery cut down and leaded over because the positive post was rubbing against the frame reinforcement that runs over the battery, creating sparks.

That would be considered bad!

One in an 85. To be honest my first one went belly up but was replaced with no questions asked. Yes I will buy another one when the time comes.

Have Optimas in both my '94 and '89. Got stranded once in the '89 shortly after putting it in due to getting one with a bad cell. Replaced no questions asked...but still a PITA as it was Christmas Eve and cold as a **** when I got stranded.

I wanted a sealed dry cell and red so it worked out!

Have one in my '86 and love it. Don't have to worry about it leaking like the old one did. I had to snip the two tabs off of battery tray to make it fit but nothing to it.
