I had to laugh at myself
I was lying on the ground, waxing the bottom of my front bumper, and was wondering how many others have had to laugh at themselves for doing things to their Corvette that no one else would ever notice!
And a Happy New Year to all!

I feel like we need to open a thread called Corvettes Anonymus for everyone who has OCD ( obsesive corvette disorder) for stories like this, and me who went out in the cold to jump start my corvette Just to make sure the battery was charged. Wait we do, it's called " what I did to my C4 today"

I took off the wheels to polish and wax the inside barrels.
What made me laugh was the type of wheel you couldn't see the barrels.
The one my wife laughs at me for is the plastic lug nut caps. When I install or remove them I still go in a star pattern. Habit I guess (Maybe OCD too)
We all have been there.

I have been polishing all the aluminum tubes in the engine compartment. I use Mother's Mag/Aluminum Wheel Polish to shine them up.
I also wash and detail the wheel well and have been slowly taking the screws out, soaking them in EvapoRust and painting them. I must have gotten a batch of screws that were prone to rusting. I am slowly moving the car back to better than new in appearance.

My name is David and I a Corvetteaholic....
The first night I picked up my 85 l didn't have tags so played it safe and just drove home. I then proceeded to sit in car and read the owners manual, about 9:00 pm my wife comes out and asks if was planning on sleeping in the vette, and if so did I need a blanket and a pillow. I told her that was silly, it wasn't anywhere near cold enough for a blanket !

I've done most all of the OCD things described as to cleaning my '84. Cleaning the exhaust system and applying a light coat of WD40 is a ritual I've established. Since it's in storage during the Winter I have plenty of time to concentrate on small details. I am the original owner and took delivery on my girlfriend's (now wife's) birthday in 1983. We got the car instead of going to dinner and I am constantly reminded of that! At least I don't forget her birthday; it's the day I got the '84, May 11th. I've used it sparingly, logging just over 26,000 miles, but I've had 6 Corvettes since and now have the '84 and a '14 plus about 1,500 die cast/Hot Wheels Corvettes.

I sometimes place "beater" floormats over the top of my "good" floormats so they don't get dirty. I always close the hatch window being sure to keep my fingers on the bolts at the bottom of the glass so I don't get finger prints on the glass. I pick the gravel out of my tire treads if I have the hood open at car events. I remove my spare tire once a year to clean and detail the tire and holder assembly. I'm a fricken screwball!

Count me in plus door jams, spare tire holder and anything I can reach at least twice a year I even pull all the the wheel wells to clean the frame.
