noise
I have had noise from the day I got this car, I figured it was U-joints.
I payed $6000.00 for this car thinking u-joints was all I needed. I have had all U-joints replaced and both rear hub bearings. I still have all kinds of noise. Pulled transmission out, found chips in a few teeth, replaced it with a S&K trans and OD, also had a new clutch put in. Still have noise, had drive shaft ballanced. Now my mechanic wants to start in on the rear end. With the car on a lift, and running in second gear I
can't tell if the noise is realy in the rear end, it sounds like the drive shaft is making noise. How can I be sure that the rear end is the problem.
I won't go into all the the things I have done myself to this car. I have
more in part's and repairs than I paid for the car

Can you describe the noise a little more explicitly?
Ha, wouldn't worry about the cost to own, I have a rule "never add up the invoices!"
Have you had the rear end serviced with new fluid and the proper amount of additive?

Yep, slipping clutches make a lot of noise, also when you drain r.e. check for metal filings with a magnet. If theres a lot of junk better look further. I think theres a special tool to get the fill plug out and it's a bear to get at, I was going to check mine and gave up.
