Default 86 sensor question - identify this part

I am working on a 86 car. Exhaust is rusted pretty bad. I am not getting any 02 signal. According to the manual the 02 sensor should be on the passenger side manifold, but all I can find is this loose wire...cant tell if part of a sensor is broken off in there. I see what looks like the 02 sensor on the drivers side exhaust manifold. Can you identify this connector?

That connector goes to the knock sensor. It's threaded into the block right above and to the front of the starter near the oil pan rail. The O2 sensor on an '86 is on the driver's side. Your manual is incorrect.

Further more, the only two things on an '86 that this type of connector was used on that I know of, was the knock sensor, and another for the aux fan switch (on cars with two cooling fans only) which would have been on the driver's side head between spark plugs 1 and 3. If there is only one cooling fan on your car, there will be a pipe plug with a square hole in the driver side head instead.

I just added a picture of the knock sensor. Which repair manual are you using?

The manual is incorrect on this as well. But you are not.

corvette1989bham, that pic is correct. Drivers side is shown.

There is also a coolant temp sender for the dash between #6 and #8 spark plugs. It has a spade terminal.
