Default C3 Body on C4 Chassis

I read where someone mentioned this but searching has been fruitless. Anyone know where to find info on the kit for putting a C3 body on the C4? Thanks for your help.

dont know if that would work as the C4 doesnt really have a full frame. Putting C4 chassis compnents unser yours may be a possibility. Look into the aftermarket co's, I believe they make chassis with the componenets on it already to where you can drop your body on one. They do for the C1 and C2 anyways..

I figured (because of the different dimensions) it wouldn't be exactly the same, but would have the same stylings as the C3. I read where someone mentioned it in the kit cars discussion from the past but couldn't find any direct links to anything. It could just be wishful thinking...

Edited because I apparently shouldn't be typing this late.

if someone had a c3 with a c4 chassis and powertrain, i think itd be my dream car. i like the way the c3 looks, but i like the performance from a c4 alot better.

Agreed...the body of my C4 is looking a little worn and would look so nice with the curves of the C3. Now if only someone knew where to get the kit (if it exists).

I agree. A C3 would be a full body off frame swap and a C4 isn't. It'd be a tough one, but VERY interesting!

There are several firms that make custom C1 thru C3 chassis'. These chassis kits allow for the installation of a C4 or C5 suspension and the choice of engines - from a SBC through an LSx to a rat.

These chassis' are commonly tube frames that are very stiff.

Now, the C4... it's a strange bonded semi-monocoque construction. This is why any body kit still looks "Vette-like," because the rear 2/3s are fixed within the shape they got at the factory.

The rear tub is bonded to the frame and the inner fenders bond to the tub, the outer fenders are bonded to all of that, creating a the entire mess. This is also why a minor accident will turn a C4 into a parts car.

This is a good pic of a stripped down C4 chassis. This is a custom assembly that Greenwood used to offer back in the day.

This is the type of chassis I am talking about for the C1-C3:

Awesome. Throw a 67 roadster on top and you have the ultimate vette IMO. I I could ever build another car that would be the finale for me. Gladly dump the ones I have to get it.
Too much $$ for this po' boy.

You'd be better off just using the C4 or C5 suspension on your frame, since the C4/C5 don't really have a frame as we know it. The body shape is used for structural support.

The suspension is also 1 complete assembly, front and rear. It only attaches to the body/frame in 4 places in back and 4 places in front. You'd have to toss the leaf springs and use coil overs.

FWIW, here's C5 suspension on a custom frame:

Not to mention it'd weigh about 2000 lbs without all that sh*t.

I have a Pontiac friend who loves to say "If it doesn't make it go faster or stop better, then it just makes it heavier"

Anyone have any info on getting the rest of the body for a C3? Getting one of these frames may be cool if I could find the other stuff for it.

Sure. It's easy. Buy any late 70s C3 and be done with it. They are much better in QC than earlier cars, and are cheap.

Centralcoaster, is that a modified "C" channel or aftermarket? I believe mine is a solid piece.
