new seats, leather or vinal?
I need new seats and I have found there are very few aftermarket seats out there.
Question is, at Corvette Central I can get my old seats redone for about $1,100 in leather or $700 in vinal that looks like leather.
The leather look of vinal for $700 may be the way I go if they wear as well as the leather.
If they don't last as long then I would rather pay extra for the leather.
Does anyone have any other places they like for seat covers?

You should be able to get the covers for less than $800.00 in leather if you're willing to recover yourself. It's not that bad of a project, took me 6 hours for both seats.
I got the factory cut/color/perforated covers from Corvette America.
Vinyl??
Isn't that toxic????

I've been wondering that as well, but I do know that many respond negatively when they hear vinyl, and it could decrease the value somewhat, but then if the seats look great what are the odds of anyone even knowing they aren't leather? After talking to local pros, it does seem as if it is cheaper to buy the ones already mounted (then you also have new foam) rather than save a few bucks and try to have them installed locally. Although if you could do your own installation...

the $1,100 for leather includes new foam.
I do almost all my own maint. so I guess if I redo my seats I will do that myself too.
Are there any other options for a non racing seat other than recovering?
I'm 6'4" and weigh 250 lb.
My 42 inch waist wont fit in any of the aftermarket seats.
I always wanted a set of Recaro seats but they told me the C4 corvette was one of the hardest cars to get seats to fit into and they didn't make any that didn't require some alterations on the car to make them fit.

They have much better prices on door panels too.
I think I'm ready to do my interior with Al Knoch.
That really saves me money. They said they only sell interior parts and I guess that is where the savings comes from.
Thank you once again. $$$$$$ more money for more restoration $$$$$$

Bring it in to your local (quality) upholstery shop an get a quote. Find out who's doing the restoration work in your area. Check the yellow pages. You might be suprised at what you hear. I paid a $1000 for leather, installed, with new mats and recovered the visors. That was fair to me. Expensive but fair.

i got hte vinal ones from Corvette Central, i like them. i got new foam with them too. i did the install onto the foam my self and i wish i hadnt, it looks good... but someone else could have done better. if you do decide to do it yourself then take your time. it took me 5 hours to do both and i could have spent 10 easily

buy the iggee seat covers for under 200...and spend the rest of the money on your engine. Or exhaust. I was considering leather, but I can not believe how good those vinyl seat covers look. Seriously....I am a perfectionist and I would never put anything cheesey on a corvette (have you ever seen those furry covers some guys put on? What, do you want to sit on a dead sheep?? Maybe it reminds them of their first girlfriend? ) I ran mine inside the lower seat frame and it looks factory. Let's face it...there is no better look than leather, but I would rather invest that money elsewhere. So, when you are cruising in your nice real leather seats, I'll be blowing by you in my vinyl seated 12 second stroker!!!!
