Default L98/LT5 Service manual

My GM service manual has both engines listed. I don't see any topics on the LT5's. The manual has more info on the LT5, then the L98. Was this popular engine ? What years was this engine in ? Better yet,,,can anyone break down the years with the engine class ? LT1, LT4,LT5, L98 etc.etc. My inquiring mind would like to know.

The LT5 has its own supplemental service manual. The L98 manual includes some info but not the super pertinient stuff.

L83 1984-only
L98 1985-1991
LT1 1992-1996
LT4 1996-only
LT5 1990-1995

Thanks cuisinartvette, the manual has saved me many of times. I hate thumbing thru all the LT5 info trying to find my L98 stuff. Tabbed the book for faster access. The engine info helps me understand there evolution. Will save this. Thanks again.

A bit of additional detail:

LT5: ZR1 only

LT4: All 1996 with six-speed manual transmission. All 1996 with automatic transmission were LT1.

Be well,

SJW
