Default Passenger side airbag question

Looking to purchase a 93-95 Vette. I know the 94 and newer Vettes have a passenger side airbag. I have young children and I would like to give them a ride around town in the Vette once in a while (only one kid at a time of course and in a car seat) but is that safe to do with the passenger side airbag? Does the passenger side airbag have a shutoff or recognize the weight of the passenger and automatically turn itself off?

Anyway, if this is an issue where the airbag can't be turned off and thus my kids can't ride in the car I might have to focus on the 92 or 93 (no passenger airbag).

Thanks

On the 94 - 96 Vettes, from the factory there is no switch to turn off the passenger airbag. They don't have a weight sensor in the seat either.

I believe there are company's that make a switch to do what your wanting. A google search will probably turn up something. Not sure if it's a simple "plug-n-play" type deal though.

I'm not positive but removing the fuse should do it.

I believe you have to file a form with the national safety board (or something like that) and then you can purchase one from an online vendor.

Do a search in google on aftermarket passenger airbag disarm switch or the likes, a bunch of info pops up.
