Default Hood Pop Up Spring Removal

When I open my hood it doesn't "pop up". I replaced the hood assist struts and now have the springs. Looked pretty simple, but when I attempted to unscrew the spring retainer, nothing happened. Even tried Vise Grips. Still won't budge. Am I missing something? What's the secret?

My hood does not pop up either.
Mine did just fine until I replaced the hood release cables.
After that, it no longer poped up.
I tried to adjust the hood springs, but was unable to break them free.
I finally stopped trying because I was afraid I was going to bust something.
The more I thought about it, the more I didn't think the springs were the problem. Thats because my hood poped up just fine until I replaced the cable.
I have to lift my hood up by hand on the side of the driver"as I pull the release cable". Then I walk around to the passenger side and pull it up.
I have gotten used to it, it does not bother me much . But it would still be nice to have it working correctly.
I hope someone can give you advise on the spring adjustment.

I have to do the same thing. Reach in and pull the hood release and with my left hand pull up on the hood. I thought it was the struts, but that didn't help. Now I have new springs and can't replace them. Tomorrow, I will remove the whole hood pop up spring mount. Maybe there's a check nut on the other side. If I get it figured out, I'll let you know.

Just put a big wrench on the nut and turn it counter clock wise.
When it breaks lose unscrew the pin in the middle
If you replaced the cable I would check the adjustment and tighten the cable a little more. That is the little nut that is on the black piece with the cable running through it.
The 3 bolts holding the spring and pin in place could also be out of alignment. If you want to spend time with this, remove the bullet pins on both sides of the hood and try adjusting the plate that the 3 bolts attach to the hood.

Ecklers or Zips has them. I bought a pair, just can't get the large nut to break free.

Loosen base nut with a very large wrench (red arrow). I use a huge adjustable wrench for this. Then you can turn the spindle by the slot it has on the tip. The whole baseplate can remain attached to the hood.

mine does this too on the passenger side. Didn't used to and I did nothing that would have effected this?? Might be a weak spring ?

I tried to loosen these humongus nuts this past weekend with a FORD wrench (really big adjustable) and then a pipe wrench. No luck. My next move is to buy a deep well socket and use my 3/4" breaker bar. One of two things will happen. I'll rip part of the hood completely off, that would suck, or the nut will succom to the power of man!

Looks like it is realy tight
I hate virgans.
Take a felt pen and mark around the black brace and remove the 3 bolts.
I would put the metal brace in a vice and then losen the nut.
That way the hood would not get all torn up

Then you can crank all you want and tap with a hammer.

Already marked the mount and going that way. Have to now deal with a code 22 ECM I received yesterday. TPS issue. Rest the ECM and will drive to work tomorrow. The car was heat soaked, 105 degrees. This stuff really get my mechanical spirit going.
