Default Replacing your L98 with a crate engine.

I'm considering doing this. Has anyone ever done it? What engine did you replace it with?

hey
well i had a SALEEN with 525 RWHP , the car was really not street able. you never knew when it would run or if it will brake down. you need to ask your self do you want a daily driver? do you want a race car? do you want it for a weekend ride? its all in what you want. i am keeping my vette stock. its cheeper and they will keep their value a lot longer then a car that has been done up. also you will have to impove your trans yous subframe, ect... their is alot to impove other then horse power..i say this to you i hope this helps you out some...

Several members have dropped ZZ4's into L98's. Scroggin Dickey now makes a vortec intake base for tpi, so you can use the 330 horse crate motor that comes with the vortec heads @ about $2100 for the 330 horse crate motor vs $ 3300 for the ZZ4 and 355 horsepower

I have a ZZ4 in my Z28 (originally an L98). Very painless swap, but don't expect too much of a performance gain. My best time with the stock ZZ4 and stock TPI set up was 13.4 @ 99 MPH pulling 1.7 60 foot times. This was with the original 700R4 and 3.23 gears on BFG drag radials. :chevy
