Cigarette lighter removal
My 84 cigarette lighter holder has some rust in it and I was wondering how difficult it would be to replace it or just try and remove the rust. The rust is at the bottom of the holder.
Thanks,
Hugh

It is not difficult as I rember, take the shift **** off ( might be the hardest part to do ) take the screws out of the center consol lift it up & you should be able to take off the cig. lighter. I think that is all there is to it, or buy a Zippo! Just kidding!

Actually, at least on the later models the cigarette lighter is affixed to the console plastic somehow. Not only do you have to remove the plastic, but you have to seperate the lighter from it. I think the cylinder comes apart in order to be released from it, but I couldn't figure out how.
