Changing out the bushings to polyurethane, good idea or not?
When I mentioned I wanted to do this to the mechanic that services my car (would love to work on my own car, but have no idea where to start...) he said it was a very bad idea. And here I was thinking it would improve the ride and get rid of the squeek/groan at speedbumps.
Does anyone have the polyurethane bushings? What do you guys think?
Thanks

As far as the squeaking is concerned, the black graphite-impregnated EnergySuspension bushings are supposed to be pretty quiet.
Others have reported that using the thickest marine grease you can find to lube whatever you buy seems to work well too.

humm, keep the rotton old rubber ones, get new poly-graphinte ones... how long he been a mechanic? makes the ride seem a whole lot firmer. fun to change out if you have some winter garage time available

I like mine overall, but they will squeek on you eventually. I greased the hell out of my poly graphite bushings and they will give off a little noise pulling into the driveway and low speed bumps, but that is the only time I notice them. Not too intrusive to my ears. No regrets here.
