Burning Brakes
Is the inflation restraint light on ? Its on the DIC. If so its the impact sensor on the frame. Pull a code and it will tell you which sensor. If no Infl res light I removed the driver seat and the two wires that run into the seatbelt assembly got cut and twisted together.( used a wire nut )

Air Bag Derm
I have the same problem. According to the specialty dealer (in NJ) that sold me the car, the problem I have is related to the Air Bag Derm (somewhere behind the steering column). I think the guy disconnected the Air Bag assembly, which tripped the seat belt light causing it to stay on all the time. The specialist checked all the other air bag sensors, and cleaned up the contacts with no luck. Now I am wondering if this guy is really as reputable as he claims he is.

Burning Brakes
Mine does the same thing - started last weekend. Pull the codes. Mine is returning a code 26 - RF Wheel Sensor. I am going to reset it and see what happens. My car set this code 2 years ago when I bought it. I reset it (took about 10 attempts to reset) and it never set the code again until last weekend. I will reset it again this weekend and I'll see what that does.

Sometimes just cleaning under the Frame Sensor won't fix the problem even if you try to clear the code and turn off the INFL REST light in the driver info sensor. It could be a bad Sensor. You need to Ohm the Sensor to find out if it's faulty. Once replaced the Seatbelt light and INFL REST light can be turned off easily. The Frame Sensors are available from GM for 60 bucks. Pipe
