Default No horn

Can't get horn to work in an 88, 35th anniversary. Have replaced horn relay and cleaned the contacts at the steering wheel. Horn will work via alarm system. Any ideas ? Thanks in advance...........

The FSM points to the steering column "slip rings" or "horn brush" whatever they are. Definitely in the steering column.

Thanks pkaszr....I suspected it was in the column, since alarm works. Just not that versed on how horn works..are the slip rings the grey plastic piece that is under the metal collar ?

I have never had a column apart before, this is where a meter is invaluable. You have to trace the circuit and the eyes can deceive you. If you need more info I can scan some more pages from the FSM, but you should try to get your own FSM, it's the best investment you can make in that 35th. Keep it, Drive it, Enjoy it, there are not too many left.

Might be worth a try....check the fuses. That was a fix for me.

Have you tried taking the horn button off and using a wire to test the circuit? I had a similar problem a year ago and just ran a short piece of speaker wire from the metal on the steering wheel to the connection in the hole where the pluging from the horn goes to. After I knew for certain the horn would work like that it narrowed it down to the horn button/connector.

Can you post a picture of the horn button from the back side? My problem was a fairly simple fix but my memory isn't working, I think my single working brain cell is in Hawaii on vacation. A picture may help jog my memory.
