Will a Delco Bose Gold radio from a '91 work in a '88 that had the delco bose radio?

The 91 Bose is a 2 component system, head-unit and tuner box. Not sure if it would even fit the dash opening.

Different size. 91 has a double DIN, 88 has a 1 1/2 DIN.

Whats a DIN? Is there anyway to make them work? Are the later ones bigger or smaller?

Replaced my 88 with a Pioneer. Fit in dash perfect. They sell a connector to mod a reg radio to Bose speakers. Didn't work for me kept hearing a hiss as background noise. Ended up swapping speakers for Pioneers also. Sounded great afterwards.
