Belt molding removal
I need to remove my side moldings. The previous owner had the car painted but they for some reason did not do the molding It is faded, chipped and nasty and I want to paint them. I see the 2 bolts on the door is there one holding the small piece behind the door inside the rear wheelwell? What else is holding it on the door? TIA

If you don't feel like going to all the trouble of removing the moldings there is a kit made that allows you to redo them without removal. I saw it in the Eckler's catalog ,go there and type in item number#32117. One of my buddys used it on his car and it looks good..WW

The 2 behind the door are held on with 2 10 MM nuts, pull the wheel well enough to get to the bolts and its done.

I figured that would be the case. I also found some info on the doors too but it is conflicting. One says pull the panel but you can't reach all the clips from in the door with the window in place. Another says pry them out from the outside but be careful. Which is the best way?

The center is held on with clips, and double sided stick tape. Mine were not accessible from the door. So I used a small screw driver with a rag and gently pried them up and down until they came loose.

The conflict continues.
Unfortunately Agent86 my door has the regulator in the way and a smaller opening. I do need to open the door up 1 more time to change my window stop and install my new door bezel so I will get a good look then. I will report my findings.

I just painted my doors and I removed the door moldings by removing the 10mm nuts on each end and then just popping off the molding with my fingers at each clip.
I was surprised how easy it was.

I did the same thing when changing to the wide molding before painting the car. It was no big deal to do.
