Default direction of wheels

Hello everyone,
I had new tires installed friday and I just noticed that the wheels are not facing the direction they were when I purchased the '87 last week .Some of the vanes are facing forward & some are facing rearward.
Is this going to cause me problems? Should I take the 'vette back to the shop and have the new tires mounted properly? Thanks in advance for your anticipated responses.

Yes, take them back and have them put them on correctly, if for nothing else but aesthetics. But the vanes are actually designed for cooling purposes so they should all be facing the correct way.

Yes, this is the correct direction. Further, the wheels are clearly marked on the reverse side indicating LEFT SIDE and RIGHT SIDE. I guess that your guy can't read or was in a great hurry.

PS - floridamale - your Vette looks great !

If you look at the BACK side of the wheel, each is marked either RIGHT or LEFT based sitting in the drivers seat.

Take it back and have them do it right!

Make sure they don't just swap the wheels around, as you likely have directional tread tires.

They'll have to be taken off the wheels and re-mounted.

Happens often.

If it's a decent tire place with up to date equipment it shouldn't be a problem.

No offense to anyone out there, but, at least around here, the tire places don't employ the most intelligent people to work there. They don't take the time to look and quite frankly, how many cars have directional wheels? Not a lot, and if they aren't used to doing Corvettes they may not know any better.

That's why I usually hang around while they do tires for me! Heck a guy I work with (90 vert), had new tires put on a year ago and I had to tell him his wheels were not right. And still aren't!

When the new Super Wal-Mart opened near-by, they advertised in the employment section for
Tire/lube installers.

$7.00/hr.

I'm sure the local Tires plus, and their competitors, don't pay
much more of a premium.

Thanks, and I agree that the shop probably doesn't work on too many 'vettes. You are also correct about owner lack of knowledge. This is my first C4 and I didn't know about the directional tires/wheels marked left & right, until you guys mentioned it on the forum.I wanted to hang around and eyeball ,but, the owner cited insurance regs.
I don't plan on raising a fuss,I just need them to install the tires correctly, and I'll be on my way.I sure don't think they did it on purpose, and we all make mistakes.
