Default Most collectible C4

What's a good collectible C4? I guess if I'm talking to my wife I'll spin it as an "investment" ... but really I want to buy something to have fun with, that might be worth more than I paid for it...someday. I love the 1995 Indy Pace Car, and have been watching the 1990 ZR-1 (red on red, please). I also like the '88 35th Anniversary.

What C4 do you think is the most collectible?

A very low mileage 35th would be prime. I once had the opportunity to buy #1 of 2050. It was won as a raffle car and was up for sale used along US 301 in Md at a car wash in AA County. Years later I purchased a different 35th.

Me thinks you need all three you named + the '96 Grand Sport to be happy.

How about one of the (4) 1986 Copper Metallic's? I believe they were all convertibles, which in 86 all convertibles came with the Pace Car decals, but uninstalled. Seems I saw one a few months ago with 2500 miles on it for $47K.

Be sure the wife's sitting when you break the news to her...

The most collectible one is the the one you want to collect. The rarest model is the 35th, and was the platform for the later C4s, so in a way the first year model. Money-wise not a great investment unless you keep it in a garage 24/7/52, and somebody wants to pay you top dollar for it. I prefer to drive mine and try to keep it in shape with no mods and enjoy the looks it gets from the SUV and Pickup Truck drivers around here. And it will never be For Sale as long as I still breathe.

I hate to tell you, but no C4 you buy is an investment. No matter what you do it will be worth less than whatever you paid for it. You can all flame me all you want, but this is the truth as far as I'm concerned. Cars are not an investment, yes sometimes you get lucky and the value goes up, but that is like 5% of the time.

Just buy one you will be happy with, have fun with it and sell it for whatever you can get for it and move on to the next toy.

off soapbox..

This is what many people thought when they sold their old muscle cars (cutlass, mustang mach 1s, corvettes, camaros, etc.) 30 years ago.

Cars can definitely be an investment, you've just got to know what 5% your looking for, like the grand sport.

As others have said...as long as it sits in the garage and you never drive it...yeah...it "might" go up...why buy a car to sit in the garage. I still stick to just buy one and have fun with it. Can anyone show me a C4 that is selling for MORE than what the sticker was the year it was sold?

The way the stock market is going lately, I'm going to puke.

I guess I'm frustrated with my investments lately...like...really upset. Cars are not normally a good investment. But it's better than watching the tickers quickly erode everything we've worked for. So might as well cash out on some stuff...wait...and maybe buy a couple cars and have some fun. I guess that's my perspective.

1994 copper metallic. Only about 100 of them made due to paint problems I think.

1996 Grand Sport convertable..less than 200 I believe.

1995 ZR-1...not sure on the exact number, but I believe well under 500.

C4 as an investment. Unless you are talking about holding a low mile car for another 30 yrs. Forget it. They didn't even that many Edsals.

The Vette gives way more grins per mile than my investments! Any Vette that does that for you seems like a good idea to me!
