I was at that race and really don't remember seeing a couple of dozen black Corvettes parading around the Brickyard.

Not saying they weren't there, but I don't remember seeing them....

They were parade cars, not Pace Cars. A friend of mine has one in Torch Red. There were around 24 of them and only three still have the decals on them. His Torch Red, Mike Yaegers Torch Red and a Black one I saw in a pic at the NCM.

There isn't too much documentation on them.

The Pace Car was a Monte Carlo if I remember right.

Awesome car.

Chevy has paced the "Allstate 400", (Brickyard), every year since it's inception since 94. In 2006 they had a Corvette pace the field for the first time.

Gotta say one thing, "they" sure come up with some fugly paint schemes for those Corvette Pace cars!

I remember the Vettes at the 94 race... and almost every one since. They were used in the pre-race to bring VIPs and eventually Miss Winston, Miss Indiana, and a bunch of other people around the track. I can't argue the documentation that the guy shows, but I would have sworn they were white. To call it a pace car is total
