dying brown carpet , black
i got some really nice brown carpet that i would like to dye ,, the backin on it is perfect it fits perfect ,, and iam really wanting to dye it ,, any one know or have experince in dying ,,

funny you should ask this.
i have a 99 C5 with gray carpet id like to dye black.
so i called a detail shop owned by a friend for help. he called the guy he has come in to dye carpet for him. i just got a call back today from my friend. he said the dye guy told him that he would not advise dyeing a whole carpet set like that.
he said hes done it before and in his experience, automobile carpet doesnt hold up very good to the process and ends up falling apart. the carpet strands begin to pull away from the backing material.
he said a spot treatment isnt as aggressive since it doesnt require as much dye as is needed to change the color completely. it typically has no side effects if done right.
if you hear something different from someone else, please let me know. i would still like to do the dye option if i can find someone who can show me that is can be done successfully.
