Callaway V16 engine
I was browsing the Callaway website and came across a V16 engine that they are developing. They have sound clips of it doing 9,000 RPMs 
. It sounds awesome, it is 550hp at 10,000 RPMs. These guys sure come up with some cool stuff!
Imagine dropping that motor in your C4 and screaming down the road with the engine wound up to 9,000rpms!

pretty cool but while the horsepower rating seems ok look at the torque only marginally better then a TPI350. But it paeks at 8500rpm and not low where you would normally feel torque as a seat in the pants pulling power.
sounds like to me yesterdays mildly moded LS1-3 would make that v16 a serious waste of money that barely acheive what was done 10 years ago.

Hmm, five valves per cylinder, one liter per four cylinders. I'm curious if some parts from my Yamaha R1 would bolt right in.

It sounds nice but I expected more of a scream like the F1 V12s. Also, as pointed out the torque is only 340 ft lbs, the same as an LT1.

looks more like an engine that would be used for indy type cars then a corvette. besides I think to certify it in todays smog days would take an act of god to get it through. I see it if anything being a dedicated race engine.

Doesn't matter. The higher RPM capability of this engine allows lower ratio gearing in the differential, resulting in higher rear wheel/axle torque.
