Default iPod woes with a 1996 targa

Has anyone successfully interfaced their iPod classic to a Bose Gold Series CD and Tape deck combo radio and if so how is it done.

I appreciate folks offering advice on what they 'think' should work and those who have done it on other years. What I need is only 1996 and someone who has actually done it.

TNX,
Mike

I don't have an Ipod but I play my mp3 player in my 96 all of the time. I bought a cassette adapter that works good. You can buy them at Walmart, Bestbuy, etc.

Ive used the cassette adapters listed above with both my iPod and iPhone. It works better than the FM transmitters I need in my daily driver.

I agree with all the above posts. I also use a cassette adapter with my iPod in my Bose Gold CD/Tape player and it sounds very good, much better than the FM transmitter.

I don't see what you think is so special about a 96 over other bose gold systems. I've been using the tape cassette adapter into my ipod on my 95 for the past year and it works fine every day

The only diff between mine and what Gary showed you is that mine is white and I paid too much for it at an apple store

cassette adaptor. Seems to work better than the FM transmitter, and the sound reproduction is good enough for me.

I had to have my cd player repaired so I sent it to Dr. Don and he also put an IPOD jack on the casette door. The door was blocked and the jack was installed in the door. It works great. The only diference in operation is you need to hit stop then eject to switch to the cassette power/IPOD adapter...

Give them a call they are very friendly and they may tell you how to do it.

Default Should have been more specific about iPod interface

Thanks to all who replied. I have tried both the tape cassette and FM xmitter and not happy. I get a high pitched squeel at any appreciable volume on the car radio. And yes I have the output of the iPod set at max. I have tried all manner of alternator filters as well. Any solution that involves magnetic induction sucks on my car. I know it is a bad ground somewhere but haven't found it yet :-(. What I am looking for in a direct electrical connection either to the radio or the CDM from the iPod. There are lots of aftermarket connector cables for 'Vettes 97 & up but nothing for 96's and lower. Anyone??

I've had mine for about a year and it still works good. I haven't had any of the problems in the customer reviews so far.

Seijack,

I also had Dr. Don install a MP3 jack in my cassette door (along with a new CD mechanism). Question, are you getting feedback (hum & hiss) through the speakers when the MP# player is plugged in but not playing? Mine sounds fine when playing, but needs to be unplugged when not. Dr. Don is more than happy to look at it again but I'm not ready to tear the radio out & send it if this is typical for his connection.

I do not know when I am not playing it I usually un-plug the i-pod ...I will try this some time this weekend. When I first tried the i-pod I was getting some humm and hardly any volume...Then I realised that I needed to turn the volume of the I-Pod up all the way up and control the volume with the radio.
