Default Where are LT2 & LT3?

I'm not a life-long Chevrolet follower, so I don't know a lot of engine label history. I know there was more than one version of LT1, and an LT4 (got one) and the legendary ZR1's LT5 engine. Was there ever any LT2 or LT3? Were they inhouse GM development mules or were those numbers just skipped over and never used?

I knew there was a reason I hang out here with you guys.
Somebody always knows the answer. Just like school, but without the cheerleaders. Some of you have pretty nice avatars though.

Lurn something new everyday.

anyone else notice that they are two lt1's? LT1 & LT-1 one of them is the older 70 corvette LT-1 .

I have always wondered why they reused the name.

It's not a name, it's an RPO code. Most all of them have been used in the past, Z06, ZR1, LS6, LT1, and many more.

The reuse of the LT1 is supposedly because the 1992 LT1 was the first smallblock that made as much power as the original 1970 LT1.

Ahh, That makes sense, I knew about the rpo codes, and knew others have been reused. But I could never find anything in common with the lt1 and LT-1 for the 70's..

Thanks

I didn't know about the difference between LT1 and LT-1 either. I thought it was just that some people typed it one way, and some the other way! Always learning little trivia things here.

2010 Chevrolet Colorado is the lt3 according to a google search.

also found this:

The LT6 was a very rare diesel engine produced from 1982 to 1984
Applications:

1982-1984 Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme, Supreme Brougham, Calais
1982-1984 Buick Regal

The LT7 was a transversely-mounted diesel engine produced from 1982 to 1985.

Applications:

1982-1985 Oldsmobile Cutlass Ciera and Supreme
1982-1985 Oldsmobile 98 Regency
1985 (Listed in options 1982-1985) Chevrolet Celebrity
1982-1985 Buick Century

Lt9 was used in 87 only. 454ci T.B.I v8 HP 230 tq 385 in V30 models??? a van maybe..

I cant find anything on the lt8

LT6...I forgot about that...we had one in an olds wagon. If I remember right it was the first GM diesel that was not a converted gas engine (different block).

You sure that's not a trim level? They are often 1LT, 2LT, etc.

http://media.gm.com/us/powertrain/en...10truck_us.htm

Shows the two Colorado engines as being the LLV, LLR, and LH9.

No im not sure at all, I searched google for "Lt3 engine"
It took me to this page http://www.newcars.org/cars/chevrole...lorado-lt3.asp

I believe you are right, I looked at chevy's web site and lt1, lt1, & lt3 are the size of the truck. Like chevy 1500, 2500, 3500 etc

YES no more ltx... I have always hated the whole ltx lsx bs. It has turned in to the new "V-tec" and "Type-R" that was around a few years. I see camaro's everyday that has a 2'x2' rear window sicker that say "LTX" or "LSX" when they are both stock lt1/ls1 cars.
I don't know why adding an "X" makes it cool now.

I want to stop them and scream! "do you not know what your motor is?!, did you leave your heads and intake at home?! " ok im done.....

Time to go work on my LTX

Considering the LT5 came out before them, that didn't stop anyone.
