Headlights Malfunction
89 Corvette headlights will not fully seat in the "on" position. They free-wheel. I understand 3-bushings sold by Eckler's can correct that. But for now, how can I manually secure those "on?" Thank you.

I'm almost positive the 89 & the 90 ( what I have ) instructions are the same for the manual opening of the lights. On the motor there is a **** at the top, turn it till the head lights flip into the "up" or "lights on" position.
What I don't know is if the bushings are shot, will the light stay in the up position.

Is this as straight forward as it seems? I am going to try this this weekend. I bought a brass gear with the buffers from Mid-America. Would lithium grease be good to use, since it will be brass on brass, or should I use something different? Thanks for all the help from all the people, on all the threads I have read on this subject

The headlight assembly is easy to take off. Just take your time and be patient. Be sure to clean out all the old grease, loose pieces, etc.
Also, adjust the brass pieces that mechanically stop the motor once it's in the open or close position. You'll know what I'm talking about once you open up the assembly. Good luck!

Thank you and the others for your input. It was just the right thing to do. I got lithium white grease. Then the 3-plastic bushings from Eckler's (around $5). The old bushings were just powder. Probably should have purchased the brass gears too.
