How to spot 13" J55 calipers vs. base 12"?
I have a pair of calipers that were sold to me as from a 1996, but I'm not sure if they truly are the 13" J55 which came in 96, or if they are the base 12" setup from another year. Can someone give me some identifying characteristics of the calipers, so I know what I've got?
Thanks

The J55 caliper is wider and a bit thicker.
Here is a picture of the GS caliper which is very similar to the J55 caliper except the GS caliper has a little more material and has the raised Corvette lettering on the face.
JL9 caliper on the left, GS/J55 caliper on the right.

So it looks like the JL9 has that triangular wedge of aluminum between the 2 piston housings - the GS caliper lacks those. I've got a pair of calipers and brackets here that won't even fit over the side of the rotor... grr. Need to find some J55 calipers and brackets now.
