Default Will a 155/80/17 "nylon" spare tire work??

After googling "tires" I finally found a 155/80/17 Goodyear nylon spare tire at sears but they want almost 200 bucks for it. Will this even work? Has anybody found new spares for the C4 lately? Took mine out today and pumped it up to see if it'll even hold air. I seem to remember somebody saying a "ricer" spare will work...Honda...Toyota...I can't recall the brand. Any ideas?

Also...assuming mine does hold air, would giving it a good coating of silicon grease help at preserving it at all or is that a waste of good grease?

That tire calculates out to 26.76" in diameter, that's an inch+ bigger than your stock tire. Probably not good for the posi and could throw off the ABS or any wheel speed sensors. Stock spare is a 155-70-17 (25.5").

I hate it, but I take mine down every three months to check the pressure. I put the same dressing I use on my other tires on the spare and wipe it off. The spare looks good, but always a little dusty. Silicon grease might collect a lot of dirt

Some one might pick this up for you

You could also look for the space saver that comes off a 2004 Solara which is sized 155/70/17
