painting hood stripes
I am planning on painting stripes similar to these, only with out the lettering. After looking at them I realized the end of the stripes do not go all the way to the windshield, how do you think it would look to continue the stripes all the way to the end of the hood (toward the windshield)? If anyone could photo shop this for me it would be much appreciated.

I think it would look very nice. Bringing the stripe back to the windshield, may give the hood a simulated cowl-induction look.
I'm always a fan of doing something a little different.

Yeah, thats just what i was looking for, thank you. I may keep the stripe thick instead of thinning as it gets close the windshield or not make it as wide in the center, still undecided. I'm just trying to accent the lines on the hood and give the illusion that the cowl is larger than it actually is.

You can just buy those stripes as decals for like $20... that way you don't have to put paint on your hood and if you decide later you don't like they will come back off. However, don't believe the decals go all the way back to the hood like you want. In that case you could probably just go to a local decal & sign shop and have the make you some custom stripes to your specs out of some good 3M automotive grade vinyl. Will cost a bit more probably, but still... it keeps you from having to put paint on your hood.

I found one guy at fleabay, custom lettering up too 8 chars.
I'm thinking black stripe with " '91 C4 L98 "
Hmmm...I think I will...I don't like it, peel away..lol
Here's my color scheme. Dk Rd Met w/Black
Using "Venus Rising font, Italic, sub "1" with "I" otherwise looks like number 7.

I wouldn't recommend clearing over decals... that will eventually lead to peeling of the clear probably. If you don't like the look of decals on the paint, then painting the stripes is your best option.
Also, after reading this thread this morning I was looking at my hood on my way to work and the way the raised edge of the hood tapers and flattens as it approaches the cowl area may make it difficult to get the paint or decal to look right without tapering too (as it does in the first pic you posted). I don't know for sure, but have a look at your hood and see if you see what I am talking about.
Either way, good luck and post some pics of the finished product once done.
