Default LT1 Cat delete pipes?

I want to replace my old, well used cats with some spun SLP high flow cats that I have left over from a camaro project. Because the stock cats are at a funny angle and the size of maxwell house coffee cans I need new pipes bent to get the new cats to fit.
The local exhaust shops wont bend the pipes for me. They all say the same story. "We only allowed to replace cats with factory replacements" .

Because of ground clearance issues, the lack of good lifting equipment, and because they cost too much, I don't want long tube headers.

Dose anyone make "Off-road" pipes that replace the cats for the 92-96 corvette like they do for Fbodys and mus-takes?

Damn, that sucks. What's South Carolina's emissions like? Or maybe it's time to take a vacation to Georgia, I'm sure you could find a shop do it while you where there. Having the smaller cats are freakin' awesome. You can access so much more stuff, it's almost worth doing just for that.

What are you going to do about a check engine light?
I was thinking about doing the same thing so the stock exhaust flows better and is louder...

well see that's the stupid part. In NC only the 96+ cars have emissions testing. Anything pre 96 just has a visual inspection that checks your tires, cats, mufflers, windshield and other safety related things.
Also it is 100% legal to run high flow cats in NC, Even on the 96+ cars. The SLP cats I bought for a 99 super sport camaro just to pass inspection with once a year.

Its just illegal here for an exhaust shop to remove cats and replace them with a universal type. If I swap them myself it is 100% legal. Stupid huh.

And the SLP cats wont set off the SES light.

You could always remove the cats and go to a muffler shop with the them IOT have pieces made and install them yourself...since if you just bring the pieces in and they are not doing an install..... they would not be illegally modifying emissisions equipment....

Take ground clearance issues off of your list of reasons for not using Longtube headers on a C4... I know from personal experience that EM longtubes and Stainless works headers do not cause ground clearance issues... Im running EMs on my DD with no issues at the car is pretty low.....

Good luck..

GM makes factory cat delete pipes for overseas cars that use leaded fuel, such as Dubai. Saw them on a C4 and C5. They arent cheap though. Go with what aboatguy says and you will be fine. Longtubes are built good now and ground clearance wont be an issue.

Ask around, and you can probably find an exhaust shop that will do the work, even though it is technically illegal. I don't understand the big deal; im putting cats on it, why do you care what kind they are.
