bose cd, skips all the time...any solutions?
i have the bose gold CD/cassette/amfm system in my 93.
I have issues with this thing, it skips with little provocation. Minor bumps cause it to skip and Im running a stock suspension/ tire air pressure.
It does that on both store bought album CDs (rarely used anymore) and even more so on CD-RW's that I burned.
Its been to dr. don$ a number of times. I know he offers an option where he will install the C5 corvette CD head (which he says works better with CD-RW's. Honestly, Ive never really been impressed with the service there. Ive had to send it back a couple times for the same problem (CD wouldnt eject). I can comment that the CD player skips a lot more AFTER service there.
Id hate to spend a couple hundred dollars there to have it NOT fix my problem. I imagine in the mean time, I could just use a tape w/ cord plugged into my mp3 player and not have to worry about it skipping.
So how does your bose gold cd work? does it skip all the time to? Or does it work perfectly.

I'll tell you what worked with mine (camaro CD upgrade)
Would not play any song all the way through on store bought or homemade.
Took my handy dandy air blow gun and blew through the cd opening real good.
Cd hasn't skipped since

Hmmmm.....interesting. I wonder if that canned air you clean keyboards with would work? The CD player in Marco just ejects the CD and says ERR. The cassette works fine, which is all I use for the MP3 player anyway, but that might be worth a shot.

Just today I ordered a 2GB CAR MP3 Radio FM Transmitter Modulator. I have a Pioneer radio CD player works great, but with this I can load 500 tunes and not worry about it. I will mount it in the console under the lid, it has a small remote so once installed I should be set. I will do a custom song list and that should be all I need.

Mine didn't work either and the amps were blown.
So I pulled the whole mess out and went with a new system. Looks great and plays everything I have including a port for the MP3 player.
Boxed up the original stuff.

they used to have a cleaning kit for CD/DVD drives for computers, that will work. It just needs to clean the "eye"

VERY common problem with the Bose CD head units. They can be rebuilt by one of the businesses listed in this thread. I've been happy with www.doctordons.com .
Having to send the head unit to them multiple times to get them to fix the problem (CD not ejecting) and then having it skip more often -after the repair is not correct.
