Default Drivers Power Seat wont move...need help

On my 92, the drivers side seat wont move forward or back. However the seat will move up and down. I do not hear any gears or grinding sounds. Does this sound like a bad motor or gear? Can it be the switch? On one of my searches I read to try swapping the drivers seat with the passenger seat. Are these seats interchangeable?

Thanks in advance for any advice you can provide.

Remove the lower cushion and separate the harness. Probe each cavity on the harness with a voltmeter as you active the switch. If you get 12V when you move the switch but the seat track doesn't move, the motor in the track is bad.

If you have the factory service manual, it will spell out which cavity feeds which motor. If not, probe them all as you move the switch. These seat tracks are known for being problematic......that is most likely the problem.

Just gone thru this myself. It was the switch. all my functions worked except the forward would require me to hold the stick forward and push and grind the joystick till the seat would move. Back did not work at all.

Thanks, I will give this a try. Is it true that the driver seat and passenger seat are interchangeable?

My passenger side seems to be that way. Just the forward and reverse do not work, It leads me to believe that it is in the switch also as I thought there was just one motor that operates several functions.

I have the same problem, everything works but no forward or reverse on the passenger side. I swapped out switch housing and the one from the passenger side worked on drivers side. Sooooo thinking maybe the motor on the passenger side is bad even though all the other features work?????????????????????

I'm positive the power seat track is, and the lower seat cushions interchange as well on the base seats. Not sure on the seat back cushions.

There are three motors..
The one on the right is the early C4 and the one on the left is the later C4..

One of these days I'm gonna crack open the track I replaced and see what's inside....anyone done this yet? I'm wondering how hard it would be to repair one.

Well that answers that I guess. I figured it came down to a parts issue....the big Corvette parts houses can get them, we mortals can't. Thanks

Had similar problem with my 87. Seat went up, down, and forward but no rearward. Had Chev. diagnose (they do it for free) and tech said console switch was bad. Got it at Ecklers ($100) and seat works fine. Relatively easy to install.

Interesting ... your dealer checked it out and told you the problem for free?
